Spray Drying - How It Works

!±8± Spray Drying - How It Works

A commercial sprayer to convert a liquid into a solid powder.

The most common products include spray dried instant coffee, milk powder, white powder, egg powder, resins and detergent. It 'widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Committed in its basic form, spray the entire process of adoption of liquid foods at one end and put in bags or other containers at the other end ready for shipment.

Often on larger systemsvarious processes are taken both upstream and downstream processing costs as much as possible to moderate. A typical example is for products such as milk, which often together an economic standpoint, the evaporation in the fuel system technologies to feed solids will raise as much as possible.

Atomization can look in many different shapes and different sizes, but all basically work the same way. The evaporation and atomization is the most commonProcess for the production of dust, especially for heat sensitive materials.

In essence, a spray dryer consists of a large room, through the very hot air (or another gas) is passed through a pump and a nebulizer. The resulting powder is usually solid collected in a drum of the storm.

The power solution is atomized in an atomizer device through a nozzle, the solution breaks into separate spheres of power. A nozzle is generally used, the smaller dropletspossible, maximizing the heat transfer and the rate of water evaporation. Droplet size can range 20-180 microns, depending on the spout.

Drying plants are similar in silos, large open container, and their quantities required by the exposure time to heat the feed, resulting in dry. The gas (usually air) is usually heated by a burner, as it is forced into the main chamber. The power solution is atomized to form droplets on the chamberThe contact with the hot air evaporates the liquid, powder.

The first contact with the hot gases of visible dust particles are hardened, hard surface outdoor interior zone. As the particles enter the length of the contact chamber coincides with the hot air, the liquid moves from the rest of the particles. Normally it is desirable to maintain a humidity level inside the dust would be enough at the end of the process - known commercially as residual moisture. The amount of timedrop for the particles to the length of the chamber as a residence.

Compared to other forms of drying a product, a spray dryer to dry very quickly. They also make a solution or suspension in a dry powder in one step, which may be advantageous to maximize profits and streamline processes.
